Le Bonheur Finds New Use For Old Building

On December 15, 2010, Le Bonheur opened the doors of its brand-new $340 million dollar facility. The new building is adjacent to the old hospital. Instead of abandoning or demolishing the former building, the hospital has plans to renovate the space and use it for administrative offices.

Contracting Single Source Solutions (CS3, Inc) will be facilitating the deserted building's transition from disregarded to renewed. Plans call for the former hospital to be gutted and renovated. CS3, Inc will be providing a full HVAC overhaul which involves taking out and refurnishing the entire heating system. This new system will provide the building with fresh chillers, air handling units and pumps.

One issue specific to medical facilities is that of infectious air. Due to the diseases that people carry to the hospital and doctor's offices, air cannot flow freely throughout the building from room to room. If it is allowed to do so, disease and infection threatens to sweep through the building, further plaguing the already ill patients as well as the administrative staff in the surrounding rooms.

In order to remedy this problem, CS3, Inc will be implementing a major air distribution modification including additional Variable Air Volume (VAV) zoning systems.  VAV systems allow for highly refined control of temperature as well as the ability for fresh air to be pumped in at a consistent rate. By installing additional VAV systems, more fresh air is able to flow into the complex. CS3 will also be custom designing an intricate duct work system to control air flow.
